Environmental impact assessment of the ArcelorMittal Steel Power Plant, in Kraków – in the chapter four – is given. Thus, four scenarios of the energy mix production processes were studied. Chapter five contains examples of using ecological Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) – a relatively new method of environmental impact assessment – which help in preparing pro-ecological strategy, and which can lead to reducing the amount of wastes produced in the ArcelorMittal Steel Plant production processes. Moreover, real input and output data of selected processes under uncertainty, mainly used in the LCA technique, have been examined. The last chapter of this monograph contains final summary. The log-normal probability distribution, widely used in risk analysis and environmental management, in order to develop a stochastic analysis of the LCA, as well as uniform distribution for stochastic approach of pollution transport in porous media has been proposed. The distributions employed in this monograph are assembled from site-specific data, data existing in the most current literature, and professional judgment.

The method of. fractional steps, known familiarly as the method oi splitting, is a remarkable technique, developed by N. N. Yanenko and his collaborators, for solving problems in theoretical mechanics numerically. It is applicable especially to potential problems, problems of elasticity and problems of fluid dynamics. Most of the applications at the present time have been to incompressible flow with free bound aries and to viscous flow at low speeds. The method offers a powerful means of solving the Navier-Stokes equations and the results produced so far cover a range of Reynolds numbers far greater than that attained in earlier methods. Further development of the method should lead to complete numerical solutions of many of the boundary layer and wake problems which at present defy satisfactory treatment. As noted by the author very few applications of the method have yet been made to problems in solid mechanics and prospects for answers both in this field and other areas such as heat transfer are encouraging. As the method is perfected it is likely to supplant traditional relaxation methods and finite element methods, especially with the increase in capability of large scale computers. This volume compiles the papers accepted for presentation at the 16thWorking C- ference on Requirements Engineering: Foundation for Software Quality (REFSQ 2010), held in Essen during June 30 and July 1-2, 2010. Since 1994, when the first REFSQ took place, requirements engineering (RE) has never ceased to be a dominant factor influencing the quality of software, systems and services. Initially started as a workshop, the REFSQ working conference series has now established itself as one of the leading international forums to discuss RE in its (many) relations to quality. It seeks reports of novel ideas and techniques that enhance the quality of RE products and processes, as well as reflections on current research and industrial RE practices. One of the most appreciated characteristics of REFSQ is that of being a highly interactive and structured event. REFSQ 2010 was no exception to this tradition. In all, we received a healthy 57 submissions. After all submissions had been ca- fully assessed by three independent reviewers and went through electronic disc- sions, the Program Committee met and finally selected 15 top-quality full papers (13 research papers and 2 experience reports) and 7 short papers, resulting in an acc- tance rate of 38 %. The work presented at REFSQ 2009 continues to have a strong anchoring in pr- tice with empirical investigations spanning over a wide range of application domains.

To understand hydrochemistry and to analyze natural as well as man-made impacts on aquatic systems, hydrogeochemical models have been used since the 1960’s and more frequently in recent times. Numerical groundwater flow, transport, and geochemical models are important tools besides classical deterministic and analytical approaches. Solving complex linear or non-linear systems of equations, commonly with hundreds of unknown parameters, is a routine task for a PC. Modeling hydrogeochemical processes requires a detailed and accurate water analysis, as well as thermodynamic and kinetic data as input. This book on Data Types and Persistence evolved from the proceedings of a workshop held at the Appin in August 1985. The purpose of the Appin workshop was to focus on these two aspects: persistence and data types, and to bring together people from various disciplines who have thought about these problems. Particular topics of"interest include the design of type systems appropriate for database work, the representation of persistent objects such as data types and modules, and the provision of orthogonal persistence and certain aspects of transactions and concurrency.
